Commentary
An imitative follis of class II (1) (Phokas and Leontia/M) minted in northern Syria under Persian rule. Particularly blundered inscription. Could be a “barbarous imitation” of the better standardized Syrian folles. For other types of these imitations, see Le monnayage de la Syrie sous l’occupation perse (610–630), 87.
