Bust of St Nicholas holding the Gospels in his left hand and offering a blessing with his right. Inscription on either side: ο||γη|ν|ικ|ο|λ|ο|σ : ὁ ἅγη(ος) Νικόλαος. Border of dots.

Partially preserved inscription of four lines, a cross above. Border of dots.

Translation

Στυλιανὸς μάγιστρος ὁ τοῦ Πλατῶνος.

Stylianos magistros, "man" or "son" of Plato.

Commentary

Neither on this seal nor on the parallel cited in this entry are the last two lines of the reverse well enough preserved to offer a clear reading. We tentatively read ὁ τοῦ Πλατῶνος, as opposed to ὁ τοῦ Πατρῶν or Πετρῶνα, the readings proposed by Laurent.
