Commentary
It is difficult to date this specimen (a token or tessera) with confidence. We tentatively assign it to the ninth or tenth century on the basis of the sigla flanking the image on the obverse, a feature found much more commonly on seals struck after the Triumph of Orthodoxy in 843.
