Urban

Extensive urban architecture is a feature of many Syrian archaeological sites.

Extensive urban architecture is a feature of many of Syria’s pre-modern cities. The Bronze age city of Ebla, Roman-era Apamea and Palmyra, and Islamic period Damascus all demonstrate the potential of ancient civilizations to carry out urban planning projects. In the Kidner collection, urban features include domestic residences, political structures, city infrastructure, and bath complexes.
